The morning started out cold and wet for the Fitness Anywhere team as we headed to the Marina Green to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation event..Rock the Green. When we arrived we quickly realized the magnitude of this great event. Cyclists outnumbered the cars and runners filled the sidewalks as we set up our display.

It was clear a little rain and wind wouldn’t stop the overwhelming show of support for the challenged athletes. Within 45 minutes of arrival the event started and the athletes kicked off their first event on the Krankcycles. We had not even finished setting up our display before the first demonstration began. We had a full demo team and every TRX was being utilized from the beginning of the event to the very end. The true versatility of the TRX was proven when the challenged athletes gave it a try. We had the honor of demonstrating to Robert, a high school freshmen with a below the knee amputation on his left side.

Robert was able to perform every exercise and adapted his prosthetic to the TRX very well. Another great example was Noah, a left below the knee amputee and left arm amputee. Noah was able to perform unilateral exercises with ease and thoroughly enjoyed using the TRX.

The greatest testament came from Forrest, a prior helicopter pilot who suffered paralysis when his aircraft was shot down during the war. Forrest was able to save his entire crew and is a true hero amongst his fellow aviators. Forrest was quick to start working out on the TRX and even got a little muddy in the process. Forrest was able to perform all of the upper body exercises and then hit the Krankcycle for a rigorous cycling event.

I think the only challenge these athletes faced was finding a workout they couldn’t conquer!
