  • TRX Rocks the ACE Symposium

The American Council on Exercise held a 3 day continuing education symposium for personal trainers in sunny San Diego.  Over 500 attendees came together from all over the United States to learn, network, swap ideas and attend exercise classes.

Our very own Fraser Quelch flew in to teach a course on TRX Sports Performance as well as Metabolic Circuit Training.  The turnout was fantastic!  TRX Sport Performance had nearly 120 attendees, filling the room and crowding the doorways.

Metabolic Circuit Training was a chance to see some of the fittest personal trainers in the country, give their all!  They walked away not only enlightened to our product opportunities but sweating and laughing.

Fraser rotated attendees on and off the TRX.  One fun exercise circuit was the Spider Crawl and Single Leg Squat.

The Single Leg Lunge gave onlookers a chance to catch their breath and study their classmate’s form before they jumped on the TRX themselves.

When all was said and done, our lucky ‘Free TRX Drawing Winner’ was Brenda Warren! Congratulations Brenda, your TRX is being mailed out today.

A big thank you to the staff at ACE for all of their help and effort to make this show a huge success!

  • Infantry Warfighting Conference 2009

Fitness Anywhere attended the Infantry Warfighting Conference 2009 in Columbus, Georgia this week. The event was explosive!  I walked into the south hall and stared down the barrel of a bazooka. The TRX booth was the place to be.  We talked to soldiers who had never seen the TRX and those who had been using the TRX both locally and on their deployments.

The first day we had a Low Row contest.  In all fairness, I had them do Dead Rows.  Participants hung directly under the anchor point for their pulls.

The first person on the TRX was officer candidate, Norma Drayton.  Drayton completed 39 rows!

With the bar set by a petite, yet fierce female, the day was full of soldiers trying to knock Drayton out of the lead.  Many, many tried.  Sergeant First Class Shanaman arrived at the end of the day and was able to tie Drayton’s 39 rows and win himself a TRX Force Kit.

The winning wasn’t over.  Major Clipp was our lucky drawing winner for day one.  Clipp ran into me walking through the expo hall earlier in the day and said, ‘TRX - I want one of those’.  I encouraged him to enter to win and 6 hours later, he was our winner. Congratulations Major.

Day Two started off strong with a new contest and more challenges and trash talking.  The Atomic Pushup was the exercise of the day.  2nd Lieutenant Daniels was our winner with a remarkable 54 Atomic Pushups.

Our lucky winner of the day was lucky and timely.  Master Sergeant Woodall had entered to win earlier in the day and happened to swing by the booth at the time of pulling the card.  Woodall said joking, “Did you pull my name?”  Shockingly, I had.

The event was a huge success.  Thanks to my team, Ken Taylor and Tom Keane for working so hard and having so much fun.

  • Rock the Green Event: Challenged Athletes Foundation

The morning started out cold and wet for the Fitness Anywhere team as we headed to the Marina Green to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation event..Rock the Green. When we arrived we quickly realized the magnitude of this great event. Cyclists outnumbered the cars and runners filled the sidewalks as we set up our display.

It was clear a little rain and wind wouldn’t stop the overwhelming show of support for the challenged athletes. Within 45 minutes of arrival the event started and the athletes kicked off their first event on the Krankcycles. We had not even finished setting up our display before the first demonstration began. We had a full demo team and every TRX was being utilized from the beginning of the event to the very end. The true versatility of the TRX was proven when the challenged athletes gave it a try. We had the honor of demonstrating to Robert, a high school freshmen with a below the knee amputation on his left side.

Robert was able to perform every exercise and adapted his prosthetic to the TRX very well. Another great example was Noah, a left below the knee amputee and left arm amputee. Noah was able to perform unilateral exercises with ease and thoroughly enjoyed using the TRX.

The greatest testament came from Forrest, a prior helicopter pilot who suffered paralysis when his aircraft was shot down during the war. Forrest was able to save his entire crew and is a true hero amongst his fellow aviators. Forrest was quick to start working out on the TRX and even got a little muddy in the process. Forrest was able to perform all of the upper body exercises and then hit the Krankcycle for a rigorous cycling event.

I think the only challenge these athletes faced was finding a workout they couldn’t conquer!
