Fitness Anywhere’s own Dr. Joe Martin,
along with Joe Knipp and Alex Roodhouse, the respective heads of Navy
and Marine Corps Programs for FAI, introduced TRX Suspension Training
to the Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy this past week,
helping to kick-off Commissioning Week activities for the graduating
seniors. As part of the introduction to the TRX the Midshipmen were challenged to see how many Atomic Push Ups (APs) they could do in 2 minutes. A challenge commonly issued during demonstrations that tends to result in the champion of the group completeing anywhere from 30 - 60 APs.
On May 19th, 2009, in just 120
seconds, Naval Academy Midshipman Brian Quinn destroyed the
nation-wide competition, completing an astronomical 81 Atomic
Push-Ups . Amazingly, it was only the time-limit that prevented
Brian from continuing his domination, as he was still going strong at
the end of the 2 minutes. In addition, numerous other USNA
challengers scored in the 50-60 range! Bravo Zulu to Brian, and to
the Naval Academy for maintaining such an intense and effective
culture of fitness!
Right before this world record was being made, the TRX was rocking Italy at the RiminiWellness convention, a 4 day fitness and health convention in Rimini Italy, lasting from May 14th through the 17th. Every demonstration, from 11 am to 7 pm was filled with 15+ people. The TRX team was interviewed by the top 5 news networks and show officials named the TRX the busiest and best new product at that year's show.
Here is a video of one of the over packed demonstrations!
