first off i will tell you a little about myself... i am 50 years old and out of shape...

iam a mess that what the doctor told that day that was a year ago in aug of 2008..i had passed out at work and woke up in the local hospital er that night..

i went to my own doctor and he told the same thing that i was told by the e.r .doc and he started me on high blood pressuse med along with a cholestrol meds also along haveing class one diabetes for he wanted to start me on meds,,,so i made a deal with my doctor if i could get down and it stay down for three months saight ..i would not have to go on the meds for the class one diabete meds ..i have been off sweets for almost 15 months now..

i now have the diabetes under control for now by walking along with eating right now ,, my work i spend a lot of time moveing in between jobs for the 8.hours that i.am at my job.. ..so it helps with keeping the weight off me and that help me with part of the wieght control problem .

.when i started this i was at the 380 wieght range about one year and three months ago....i am starting to feel that i have i hit the wall and i need to find something else beside walking to help me lose more wieght for iam down to 300 pds mark and can not get under that mark . i can walk to work which about a mile and half each way to and from work ..i the only time i drive the car is when i am going to the store after work on friday for the food and other items i need to get before going home for the weekend . i make the walk in about 25.mins time frame each way ... i walk down to blockbuster on corner which is about six blocks away from me and i walk down to the diff areas to pay bills on sat morning so i can get the blood flowing and get the wind up and get in the morning walk before going to the bed for the day..i work nights and sleep days..

at my work i have fallen twice at work and mess up my lower back up along with the shoulder and neck areas with a pinch typle nerve in right shoulder and neck and upper part of the arm area that what sent me to the hospital that night was the fall from the ramps at work ..plus my knees are shot from work and a military ..

so i have been looking for something that would low inpact and easly for me to use along with beening able to go to a groups workouts session for me to keep up with a bunch of older people workout group with a easly workout session for me ..

so tell me about the trx system and how does it help people with the basic core system and how does it work the body without a lot of inpact..and anything else you can tell me about the system ..

someone i know told about rideing a bike along with the trx system should get more wieght off my body and i should be getting better over the time with it..

I ran across some new exercises online and can't seem to find examples of them. I'd greatly appreciate any help in understanding how to perform them. They are the following:

TRX Underhanded Row

TRX Runners Crunch

TRX Plyo Pike (is this a regular pike?)

Generally, he says working the upper abs first is a mistake, and ab work should start with lower abs. Specifically, he says:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

So the best exercises for lower abs are:

* Incline Leg Raises
* Incline Knee Ups
* Hanging Leg Raises
* Flat Bench Leg Raises

And then follow up with the best upper abs exercises:

* Crunches
* Weighted Crunches
* Situps
* Hanging Knee Raises

---------------------------------------------

If you were building a TRX program to do these exercises, which TRX exercises equate? Or substitute?

I've been wanting to get a pull-up bar anyway. I have a dream of one day being able to do a pull-up or chin-up (don't care which) :-) Yea....just one....gotta start somewhere :-) I bought one of those 'Powergym' contraptions, but unfortunately it wouldn't fit around the large mouldings I have around all the doorframes in my house, so I gave it away. The Perfect Pull-up looks like it would fit my doorframes better.

So if I went and bought this, would it solve my two problems of getting a pullup bar into my doorframe AND being an anchor point for my TRX in a more convenient location? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I am recovering a nagging inner quad injury that I am getting acupuncture on right now that helps a lot. I am looking to do an upper body and core workout in order to give it time to heal cause when I start doing a lot of lower body especially single leg movements I reaggravate it a little and I just think it needs time to rest. I still play hockey but it is not effected that much as I can deal with it mostly. Regular squats and step ups don't seam to bother that much, so basically I am just look for guidance in a program for the next month or so and any suggestions would be awesome. Also the shoulder workout that Drew Brees does is awesome and helps a lot with my since I suffered multiple shoulder surgeries on a shoulder instability problem. I was trying to do the trx phase 1 program and winter sports but I am going to hold off for now till I am healed. BTW lower body injuries stink but acupuncture def helps and even thought it hurts like heck with the trigger points you can feel the muscle relase and relax

I am planning on doing the 12 week FORCE program again once my uni exams are over and summer holidays kick in, and was just wondering if anyone here has substituted a rowing machine for running as cardio in the program? If so, how did you find it? I just bought a Water Rower (www.waterrower.com) and am very keen to use it for cardio in this program, but am a little worried about overloading my back with too much work. Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Shoulders, biceps, triceps are shaping up really nicely. Stomach is getting flatter. And what made me really happy is that I live on the third floor, no elevator. Usually by the time I get to the top of the stairs, I am breathing a little heavy (I'm not fat, but am a smoker, I know, I know) but last night, I ran down the stairs to let my cat in then ran up the stairs with her. Sat down on the couch to check emails before I realized that I just ran up to the third floor and was breathing normally as I just went up one step.

Loving it!!

It's also having a great effect on my Argentine Tango dancing. More energy, less sweating, can dance longer than usual and much better balance, I am much more firmly connected to the floor.

So glad this TRX force kit exists.
