    TRX Core Challenge

There's nothing that says "Happy Valentines Day" like a six pack. No guys I'm not talking about beer but that washboard look of lean, athletic sexiness that comes with consistent, quality core work and great nutrition. To help you give yourself and your sweetie a kick start we've devised a core challenge for the month of February that you will be able to work on together. You can track your progress on this forum. To kick things off I'll post my own numbers now and work to see where I end up by the end of the month. I hope to be rendering my washing machine obsolete by Feb 28th!

    Exercise                                               Reps

    Standing Back Extension                      24
    Kneeling Rollout                                    20
    Leg Raise                                              26
    Suspended Oblique Crunch (R)            12
    Suspended Oblique Crunch (L)             12
Suspended Side Plank with Taps (R)     8
Suspended Side Plank with Taps (L)      8
    Reaching V-Sit                                      18

    Total Score                                            128

    Re: TRX Core Challenge

Are the side planks from hand or forearm?

I have no sweetie to do this with me, so I'll do this and feel lonely by myself. But maybe having done this will help me get a good one.

It's only shown on the forearm on the dvd.

    Re: TRX Core Challenge

    Thanks Xenophon.

    Exercise                                               Reps

    Standing Back Extension                      25
    Kneeling Rollout                                    22
    Leg Raise                                              19
    Suspended Oblique Crunch (R)            16
    Suspended Oblique Crunch (L)             16
Suspended Side Plank with Taps (R)     15
Suspended Side Plank with Taps (L)      16
    Reaching V-Sit                                      15

    Total Score                                            143

The Leg Raise and V-Sit were most difficult for me, so it seems my Obliques are far more developed than my Rectus Abdominis. That will have to change. Now if I'd been doing the side planks from my hand I would have a far lower score. I'll need to work on those also.

    core challenge A

I just did the core challenge for the first time and was really surprised by how tough it was. Doing a side plank with the TRX is much harder than the traditional way.

How many times per week would you suggest doing this core workout?

    Re: TRX Core Challenge

My soreness today really tells me where I have to work, my hamstrings are sore and so are the highest of my abs. I'm going to Include healthy back and flexibility to really let me push harder. I may also include Strength, so I don't loose my year plan. To assist in belly lost I will try to quit candy for this month, and do a lot of extra cardio.

    StephenCooper:
It's really up to you, but 3 times a week would result in quickest results.

For example my routine over the next 4 weeks will likely be as follows (You can ignore the other routines and replace Core B with Core A):

    Monday: Core A
    Tuesday: Healthy Back
    Wednesday: Core B
    Thursday: Strength
    Friday: Healthy Back
    Saturday: Core A
    Sunday: Flexibility
    I may alternate A and B (2A one week 2B the next).
