    TRX Outdoor Group Classes

    Hey all,

I just wanted to take a minute to share with you a video I made about the TRX Group classes we do outdoors in Las Vegas, NV.  In the video you can see the versatility the TRX offers for places that classes can be held.  We’ve had great response and interest from the community in the classes, and usually there is a crowd standing around watching in the park when we do the classes. Which is awesome, because it ends up being free marketing, and we hand out a bunch of business cards, as well as collect more emails for a database. Here is the link.

We’ve done a couple of things to help promote the classes in Las Vegas.  For example, we offer a cheaper rate when the students prepay, and more expensive the day of class.  We also give them 2 free classes if they buy a TRX through us, and then the classes are cheaper than everyone else whenever they bring their own TRX to class.  We hold contests each class, with TRX product (ie- DVD’s, etc) for  a prize, which encourages them to get one for themselves and use the TRX more on their own.

I would love to hear what you guys are doing with the TRX?  How are you incorporating the TRX in your business? Are you doing classes?  What have you found that works?

Here's an article by Fraser, it's actually what got me into jump rope. You're already doing a lot of what he suggests, like handing out bussiness cards.

    I hope it helps.

     Hi Hayley!

Great video!! I am getting ready to launch group trx classes as well. Would love to pick your brain as to what you've found works and what didn't. I just got back from IDEA's Personal Trainers Institute where I took a few "business classes" on small group personal training. Of course, these were generic but the ideas would work well w/ TRX classes. I'm curious as to how you've handled the "legal" side of things. Especially w/ the outdoor stuff. Did you need city permission to use the public parks? What steps have you taken to protect yourself if (God forbid) someone were to get injured? Feel free to shoot me a personal email here on the community if you want to chat more about the "business" side of things.

Thanks so much for sharing your passion and the video. Good luck!

Absolutely! And the looks we get are awesome!  So, moral of the story... make sure you always have a business card on you when you are training someone on the TRX. :)

    Re: TRX Outdoor Group Classes

Its definitely been a learning experience for us, and we have learned along the way.  But the key is, to keep going, because it gets better.  The best way we have found to promote interest, is to get your current clients to come, and offer a free class if they bring a friend.  This helps to spread by word of mouth, which is your best way to market.  Have business cards ready, and a class schedule to give to every new person that comes, as well as a method to take down their email address, so you can put them in the know as to new changes or new classes, etc.  It takes a lot of followthrough, but is well worth the extra effort.

As far as the parks go, in Las Vegas, we don't need permission if its a city park, but if its a county park, we would have to get a license.  In the city parks as long as your class isnt over a certain number you don't need a license.  Check with your local authorities for info.  When you do it in parks, be courteous of the area you are using.  For instance, when we used the jungle gym it was 7am in the morning, so no kids were at the park.  When we used the trees with the grassy area, be knowledgeable of sprinkler times!  WE got wet in one class!

Let me know if I can be of anymore help.

Also, as far as liability goes.  Our company carries liability insurance that covers us for up to 1 million per occurence, in the gym, in a clients home, or outdoors.  We also have all of students fill out a liability waiver and release, with an emergency contact when they come to the class.  Hope that helps.
