TRX Outright Rejected @ Gym (ACAC)

So just an fyi for anyone working out at ACAC (Charlotesville or West Chester), its been outright rejected at their gym unless you are paying for a training session. I watched a guy today who was training on one with a trainer, then went out and bought his own after several classes, and they banned him from using it at the gym , incorporating it into his workout.

Pretty lame if you ask me, there should be no reason you cant use one at the gym wrapping it up into your workouts, especially if you have payed to be trained on one.. beware of using them at your gym!

I am a trainer here in Charlotte, NC.  I understand your feelings as I even recieve flak from management when I encourage some of my clientel to purchase their own TRX.  I still support my own clientel to purchase and use their own trx when able.  Locations that function only for profit seem to narrow their scope on customer service and value for the staff and facility.  I am currently looking to leave my place of employment and find a facility where the atmosphere is more condusive for open ideas and service towards the customer and membership base.

I do understand and thank you for the warning.

    That is lame! Big Smile

I just had my first experience busting out the TRX at the gym today myself. I go to Golds Gym in West Jordan here in Utah. I usually go before or after class, as classes are right across the street so to speak.

I got a couple peculiar looks, none negative or disguisted, and the trainers and staff was all cool about it. I just wrapped the suspension anchor around the back of the Smith Machine, and away I go.

That is something I was concerned about myself. Even the other members around me was totally cool.

I was quite fortunate in that area I must say.

I am lucky, I started with the TRX at the gym.  I asked ahead of time, to make sure it was okay to bring my own in.  The gym I go to is trying to get more people to use TRX.  I am trying to spread the word.

We currently have a class on Thursdays, one in the early morning and one at night.

I started using my TRX at the gyn (TenXSPA in Canton Mass) about a year ago.  Same experience, some odd looks, very few asked about it.  Now the Gym is putting in a rack and has purchased a bunch of TRX straps.  Classes are going to start soon!

I wonder if I could get a commission?

I wasn't allowed to use my TRX at my (old) gym; could only use "their" equipment. So needless to say, my son and I are no longer members.  I believe it was a matter of the owner not understanding (and not wanting to) what it was all about.
