Is the TRX system getting enough exposure?

Do you think that the TRX system is getting enough exposure out there and if not what would be good ideas for the company to get more exposure?

Re: Is the TRX system getting enough exposure?

It is never enough exposure.  We are constantly looking for more.  Our marketing mix contains everything from street teams to trade shows to PR.

Our focus has been in producing a best in class product that meets the needs of the most demanding customers.  We depend on our  customers to help spread the word.  The success of TRX is attributed to the reputation and word of mouth. Through this the TRX has been featured in Men's Fitness, Outside and Shape magazine as well as several others.  Top professional athletes and trainers like Drew Brees, Brandon Vera, Todd Durkin and others utilize the TRX in their exercise program.  Even superstar celebrities like Jennifer Lopez use the TRX to keep them inshape.

We are excited about the media exposure we get, but we also understand that a great deal of our exposure comes from the TRX enthusiasts who are excited about the convenience, the challenge and the results they experience when using the TRX.  These enthusiasts are anxious to spread the word and thrilled to answer questions from clients, on lookers and passer bys.  We are more than happy to reward these people who are able to bring us new business and encourage all to sign up for our affiliate program.

As the exposure grows, we are expanding into new mediums and looking for new ways to encourage word of mouth.  We can now be found actively online on twitter, facebook and youtube and are constantly interacting, providing content and answering questions.

    What are your suggestions?

First of all I love the TRX system and had told most of my friends about it.  I would suggest maybe going to colleges and universities and maybe high schools across the country and set up some sort of challenge with some of the students that go there.  You can compare a similar workout with the TRX system and a piece of equipment that can do the same type of movement.  Then ask the student which would they prefer of the two pieces of equipment.

Re: Is the TRX system getting enough exposure?

How about an informercial? The BeachBody Co., distributers of the P90X, Ten Minute Trainer, Hip Hop abs, etc, have made a huge impact on the fitness community with their infomercials. They aren't distributing or promoting a gimmicky product. They are actual programs that make you work your butt off to get results.  I lost over 40+ pounds with their products and swear by them. People will watch it, watch it again and it will get in their heads. I still watch the P90X infomercial and I have done the program twice. It keeps me motivated.

The Perfect Pullup is another example.  PP actually started the ads and updated them when the economy tanked. Lowered their price for the masses who couldn't afford to buy it and promoted fitness first. I never bought the system because I had several pullup bars already, but it always stuck in my mind as a product and company that wants people to get in shape and get healthy. I did buy some of their other products, Perfect Push-up, because of this mindset. Maybe it's the SEAL mentality.

Maybe make an infomercial and "distribute" or seed it via Youtube or facebook. Get the word out that way and guage it. If the response is positive, possibly expand to TV.

We have become a very fat country. If you can show that the TRX is accessible to all levels of fitness with real people in the ads, the masses will flock to it. You've got a lot of great ways to market it...tennis, golf (golfers are insane about improving their scores, present company included), the military, moms on-the-go, team sports. I've seen videos on working with senior citizens, figure skating posts, etc. The limits are endless. I can almost see it in my head already.

Well, that's how I think the product should be marketed. It's a great product.

I agree with your suggestions about the informericals and how this country is becoming fatter and fatter by the day.

Perhaps TRX should partner with more health clubs (like Bally's) and gyms (like Gold's)in order to get more people exposed to TRX. I know that selling TRX on the Home Shopping Network might seem a litlle tacky, but it is far superior to the vast majority of excercise equipment being sold on HSN.

The HSN can be a start for the system but I don't know how long that would last.  It sounds like a good idea to have the TRX system in gyms like Bally's or Gold's because there are so many of them in the area of New Jersey where I live.

HSN or QVC would be great...I know QVC sells exercise equipment frequently and usually sells out quickly.

That sounds like a good ldea, having the TRX system on either network may work. They would have to try to find out what happens.

Re: Is the TRX system getting enough exposure?

I believe that the TRX is getting great exposure but worthy of so much more.  I recall watching The Biggest Loser and after Bob showed it I could not log into the store at the next commercial break.  That is a great showing.  Also 24 Hour Fitness I think was at one time looking to have TRX Classes I could be wrong.

Me personally I love my TRX and using the knowledge from attending the STC watching every DVD I enjoy sharing all I can about when asked.   If time permits (most the time it does) I'll do a demo.  I've turn trainers and Joe customer on to it at my fitness centers and this summer I have Cadets getting a great taste.

Yes infomercials are a great way for more exposer but I see most items advertised in them as fad items.   They may work and great if they do but the TRX is far from a fad.  Billy Blanks had B rated celebrities in his videos.  Fitness Anywhere has A list athletes and celebrities using it.

Once scientific studies are available to prove what we already know the TRX will truly explode.

    Just my 2 cents

    You so rock!!!

Watching that episode of the BIggest Loser was the first time I saw and heard of the TRX system.  At first I thought that it was kind of expensive, especially being a college student but that had changed once my friend had to cancel our gym membership.  I have had it for about two weeks now and I love using it. I agree about the A list celebrities help this system since they are mostly professional athletes and movie stars.

Re: Is the TRX system getting enough exposure?

    Hello nathanmcgee,

Have you already thought about approaching Universities and other Institution where Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Athletic Trainers or other Movement/Fitness Professionals are trained?

You could introduce the TRX to the students and teach them the basic exercises. In Norway, where a similar tool exists, the inventors of that system began teaching at the Norwegian Physiotherapy Schools and nowadays every Norwegian Physiotherapist nows the tool and a large percentage of Therapists own one or more of them.

Ok, Norway is slightly smaller than the USA, but I can´t see any reason why this shouldn´t work in the US as well.

I began to introduce the TRX to my students, clients and colleagues a few months ago and a lot of them are "hooked" by now.

    Greetings,

    Olaf
