new user -- want to avoid injury -- seeking solid advice

Background:  40 yr old -- desk jockey.

    Pretty fit (5'11 200lbs). Work out 5 times/week.

Traditional weight training, cycling, skating.    Lacking flexibility and probably core strength.

Never do any running -- but do a ton of cycling/skating.

I just purchased the TRX force bundle.

Also purchased the strength and flexibility dvds.

20 years ago -- I know that I could jump right into the FORCE 12 week program.

But right now -- I just want to make sure I dont jump in too fast and injure myself by going too hard, too fast.

Any suggestions for how I should go about building myself up to complete the 12 week program -- minimizing the risk of an injury setback.

I am a 51 guy who was not fit a year ago.  I started with the basic program, and stuck with it every other day for about a month to acclimate to the TRX.  Then I transitioned into the advanced work out and just started tweaking and adding things I saw on this forum and youtube.  I have never been hurt, but occasionally something will bother me, ie shoulder or hamstrings.  The beauty of TRX is that you can simply change up your routine and steer clear of trouble spots.  The results have been outstanding!

I also don't try to do too much of an exercise the first or second time I add it in.  It is easy to forget how many muscles you are working in any given exercise.  My wife has transitioned over to TRX from weight training.  It took her time to get out of the mindset of working muscles to exhaustion and such.  I bounce around from position to position.  I think of TRX as playing in the playground, doing what feels good.  By the end of 45 minutes to an hour, I've usually hit everything and am pretty well shot.

    Good luck

    Larry
