    Metabolic Training

I was down in Vegas for the IDEA tradeshow (while at the NSCA conference) and came out in the nick of time to catch metabolic circuits w/ Fraser.  Metabolic circuits have proven to be the most efficient method or weight loss for my fat loss clients due to its "afterburn" effect.  I like the grouping of three multijoint exercises for 20 reps for speed, as well as the 20 sec on/off for 3 min set.  Any other recommendations for TRX metabolic training sets?

On a side note; After participating in the TRX metabolic circuit demo I stress that you should hydrate and fuel yourself to prepare for the workout's demands. My blueberry desert crepe for breakfast did not agree w/ me, so it came back up; that and I felt my blood sugar drop dramatically and had to lie down... all this after performing 6 minutes of exercise lol.  A little embarassing to say the least.

    Re: Metabolic Training

There is a thing called Tabata Intervals which might interest you. They consist of 20 seconds of all out exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Repeat for a total of eight times or 4 minutes. You can use it with any exercise.

     Hey Steve

It was great to see you IDEA and a real treat to have you join in with the Suspension Training for Metabolic Circuits workout... sorry about that blueberry desert crepe Ick!... probably serves you right for a breakfast choice like that though... nothing like trying to eat right in Las Vegas... the two are almost mutually exclusive.

As I remember the sets that we did at IDEA World were as follows

    Several rounds of:
TRX Suspended Lunge with Power     20 each leg
    TRX Deep Row                                 20
    TRX Deep Push Up                           20

The Tabata set that we did http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8897392 used the atomic pushup matrix as its exercise and was structured in the classic 6 cycles of 20 sec work - 10 sec rest that was used in his research (see the link)

Keep your eyes on the website for more circuits that use the TRX to help create a strong metabolic load.

    Re: Metabolic Training

Thanks for the replies.  Apart from the aerobic/anearobic gains, and implications for fat loss one of the great things about metabolic training is the little time it takes to complete an exercise set.  I will definitely be adding Tabata style circuits to my prescribed fat loss routines.
