    New guy on the board

    Hi all.

I just thought I'd drop a line to introduce myself.

I am an almost 39 year old ex military that used to be in great shape. Getting older, slowing down metabolism, having kids, busy at work and running a business as well as all the other excuses in the book kept me away from the gym enough to bring my fitness level down. I am 6'3", 210 pounds, fairly muscular, but quickly getting a layer of fat on.

I have been a career firefighter for the last 9 years, and getting out of shape makes me a hazard to myself, to my brothers and to the public I serve.

I am doing Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jujitsu to keep in shape. The instructors at the gym I go to are fitness freaks. I saw them both work with the TRX one day. They explained to me what it was and I tried a few exercises. I fell in love with it and got one. I brought it at the hall today and the guys were quite curious about it. I think they'll see a lot more of it.

I am looking forward to learn from this community and maybe, eventually, share my experiences.

    Cheers

Re: New guy on the board

Welcome!  There are a lot of different people on this forum with all kinds of backgrounds, from professional trainers to those of us that are just obsessed with all things fitness.  Being in one of the few professions out there that depend on functional fitness, not just as part of the job, but for your life, I think you'll find the TRX is the perfect solution.  These routines will make you stronger, but they will also make you more flexible and teach you to use your muscles in a coordinated effort- something that I'm sure you will be able to appreciate next time you are in a difficult rescue situation.

    Good Luck!
