365-Day Fitness Challenge
This 31-day fitness challenge is great. But that's only 1 month, you can't stop there; we all know there are 12 months to the year.
We've all got a goal of improving out scores on the fitness test this month; but what goals do you have for the rest of the year?
My goals starting November 1st are as follows:
First I want to loose excess body fat. I aim to achieve this through changes to my dietary habits and more cardio: walking, jump rope, biking, running, etc... I will continue using the TRX to prevent my strength from declining.
Second I want to increase my strength. Before I start an all body strengthening program I will focus first on my weakest area (upper body), so that it is up to par with the rest of my body. I will do that while still in the fat losing phase. I will then proceed to work my way up to doing all my TRX exercises at their most difficult progressions.
Lastly, once I have perfected that I will train my muscular endurance. My overall endurance should have been bolstered by months of cardio exercises, but I will challenge the endurance of every individual muscle by increasing the Reps, Sets, etc... of my TRX resistance training programs.

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
Max, Good point. I've got pretty simple goals for the rest of the year: 1) Gain 5-10 more pounds of lean muscle to get up to the 190-195 range. 2) Keep bodyfat between 9-11% 3) Drop my run time to a 6 minute mile 4) Maintain my healthy eating habits after returning to the US I'm happy with my current training plan, but to help realize these goals I'm going to incorporate more KB cardio work, integrating it into actual running (sprint work with high rep KB work, for example). My TRX training will likely stay very similar to what I'm already doing, but I am looking forward to finding an overhead anchor point (instead of the wall point I uses) so I can start adding some new types of exercises.

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
I forgot about the weight. I want to get back over 200lb, but shrink my waist back to 33", maybe even 32", though increases in abdominal hypertrophy might counteract some of the fat loss in terms of inches.
I might get a kettlebell, but I don't know what i'd do with it once i go to college. It'd not be easy taking them all the way to Wyoming. Maybe better to wait and get them there.

KBs are awesome; you can use them for strength gains or heart bursting cardio (which is great if you get bored running like I do). It might be a pain to carry with you to college though, so unless you are itching for something new now I would hold off and just order it stateside. DragonDoor has good stuff but they are a little expensive, LifelineUSA is my personal choice for actual KBs, and Art of Strength has some great DVDs, forums, etc (you can also buy KBs from them). What's your weight/waist right now?

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
waist, just over 35.
I think the october 1st weight of 179 must have just been an odd day, maybe i hadn't eatten as much as normal. I was 185 when i got home from Wyoming, and 188 last night.
We have a flat iron that is about 12kg, so i might just use that if i get bored. I saw the large fillable KB on art of strength, the 150lb maximum is crazy, but maybe someday useful, hahaha.

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
So what exercise has everyone been doing since the end of the 31 day challenge? Is the quietness of the board because of everyone taking a recovery week?
I've just been doing some cardio, long walks, and jump rope. Going to get back onto the TRX on Thursday.

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
Now that I'm back at my FOB I've been doing my normal Kettlebell cardio workout and gave the "superhero" TRX workout a try (pretty good, I liked the daredevil and neo exercises)

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
Hey Mike Did you ever try the kettlebell TRX metabolic fusion that I posted? I'm sure my technique could be improved but I was looking forward to your take on it?

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
Hey Fraser; I actually did try it out and loved it! I remember a while back when we started talking about KB/TRX fusion concepts in the other thread and a concern was raised by someone about reduced effectiveness when we combine both tools. I think that this fusion workout highlights how they can actually complement each other very well, especially since transitions between the two can be accomplished in seconds. I like anything that can keep me moving from one thing to another (like Dion's workouts). The other day we actually did a super simplified fusion workout. We only had one TRX and one KB available that day so while one guy was doing his TRX set the other was doing either KB swings or snatches. By replacing our "rest" period like that we got a ridiculous cardio workout at the same time. Anyway, great post, I'm looking forward to seeing more ideas. Any thoughts on putting together a whole DVD based around the fusion concept? A TRX/KB one would obviously be my choice, but it could involve all kinds of great tools and maybe spark some creativity in the crowd!
On a side note, where did you film that workout? The scenery in the background was great!

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
Hey Mike Glad that you liked it. Another element to add is the concept 2 - cycling between TRX - KB - Concept 2... serious evil I like the idea of a whole DVD dedicated to different fusions. We have a pretty full schedule for DVDs but keep your eye on the blog site for a section devoted to this As for the scenery - funny you should ask - stay tuned to the blog later today for your answer on that one... it actually is a small park right behind by house

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
What is the concept 2? It sounds familiar but my memory is failing me right now....
I'm eager to see what other new DVDs come out soon; I'm planning on sending a few TRX bundles to family and friends for xmas but I'll probably end up buying a few "gifts" for myself too!
As Carlos said in another thread, I think we all wish for a "little less of that Fraser guy" yet we keep coming back for more pain!

Well as long as you keep coming back for more I guess I can't deny anyone a "love / hate" relationship The concept 2 is the standard brand of stationary rower. I have yet to find a place to hide when using it. Happy Thanksgiving.

Re: 365-Day Fitness Challenge
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I give thanks to Fitness Anywhere for crowning me the winner of the fitness challenge! Probability, my old friend; all that typing paid off. I am looking forward to receiving it and sitting down to watch all the DVDs (I will try to refrain from the popcorn, otherwise i'd have to spend more time on the TRX undoing the damage they did).
I was away the last 11 days in Poland. My grandmother died so we had to go to the funeral and work out all the legal issues. But I'm back now, so tomorrow I will be catching up on here.

Sometimes, those are the best kind of relationships!!
Thanks for the tips, I'll have to look for the rower. Back in college I roomed with a guy on the crew team and used to dread working out with him; those rowers will kick your butt!
