I watched a guy today who was training on one with a trainer, then went out and bought his own after several classes, and they banned him from using it at the gym , incorporating it into his workout.

Pretty lame if you ask me, there should be no reason you cant use one at the gym wrapping it up into your workouts, especially if you have payed to be trained on one.. beware of using them at your gym!

Wear & tear on your TRX

I'm interested in finding out from those of you using your TRX on a regular basis for a few years now - how are the straps & handles holding up?

Have any of you had to replace yours due to normal use through the years?

Get Media Attention with TRX

We all know that the media pays more attention to health and fitness stories this time of year, and now is a perfect time to introduce TRX training to the local media. Suspension training is a great way to interest local reporters and news directors with something fresh and different. Sending a pitch letter or email with a headline of, "Weight Loss Tips for the Holidays" may not get nearly as much attention as, "TRX - Suspension Fitness Training Hits Denver" or "Curious about TRX Suspension Training? Call TRX Training Expert XXX for more information." You have to be extremely creative (not cheesy or salesy with your pitch) to get their attention.

About a year ago, I started slowly adding the local media in Denver to my RSS blog feeds, monthly e-newsletters and regularly sending press releases. (I asked permission to add them to my email database). By providing ultra current health and fitness information I have been able to sucessfully keep them on my list and up-to-date on my latest projects. Denver is a very 'fit" town and people are extremely interested in TRX training, thankfully I have received a ton of media exposure and gained 12 new clients in November for my TRX suspension training classes.

I started by offering the media a TRX training session that included a TRX (the professional version). I charged them a nominal fee for the session and a TRX, within a few weeks I was training a writer for the Denver Post Fitness section and the anchor for the CBS local news. Both of them have mentioned the TRX on air and in print and the Denver Post is going to feature my classes in an upcomming issue about "Gyms on the Go".

Not enough qualified trainers send press releases, e-newsletters and RSS blog feeds to the media. Don't be intimidated, the media appreciates any and all story ideas. It helps them do their job. I have included all of the details of how I got my TRX classes going in Denver because I hope that it will spark some creative ideas for you to use in your holiday marketing campaigns. The best marketing is FREE marketing! Good luck and post comments - I would love to know what is working for other coaches.

Building a frame for TRX classes

Hi all.

We are looking to add a TRX-based class to our programs and need to construct a frame of some sorts to suspend them from. Unfortunately the frame offered by Fitness Anywhere will not work for our location. If anyone has constructed such a thing and could share some details and/or pics it would be very helpful.

Thanks,

At the same time I would naturally like to take it a couple steps further with hopes of taking the TRX to our towns High School. Which is one the States best high schools in our class.

1) What are some of the applying the TRX in sports training. Baseball, Baskeetball, Football, Soccer, Track/Cross Country, Volleyball....etcetera?

2) Can it be used alone, with weghts? What would you recommend in order for us to get the most out of the TRX?

3) Can it be used to build strength. muscle, endurance.....am I missing any other areas it would benefit?

4) Are there specific training programs developed for these sports and how can a coach like myself integrate into multiple sports?

Thank you for any helpful ideas, insights or suggestions you can provide.

Training Music

I find that the right music makes a big difference with any training program; particularly in a group fitness setting.

Using the TRX Body Conditioning Class as a model. I run the class in a circuit style format and the TRX works in great as an additional station. With 4 TRXs, a couple of yoga mats and jump ropes I can easily set up a 15 station circuit and make sure everyone gets a total body strength, cardio and flexibility workout. I have also used the TRXs for small outdoor group training. My bootcamp ranges from 10 to 15 people in the mornings and by keeping all of the stations near each other, it is easy to keep an eye on everyone.

Here is a sample:

Station 1: TRX Low Row
Station 2: Jump Rope
Station 3: TRX Chest Press
Station 4: Jumping Jacks
Station 5: Single Leg Touch Downs
Station 6: Tricep Dips on Bench
Station 7: TRX Bicep Curls
Station 8:Walking Lunge
Station 9: Jogging/walking station
Station 10: TRX Suspended Crunch/Assisted Roll up (depends on user)

45 seconds at each station and they go through twice. With a warm-up and cool down. This is a great format to run a class. Anyone have any other ideas?
