Suspension training is a great way to interest local reporters and news directors with something fresh and different. Sending a pitch letter or email with a headline of, "Weight Loss Tips for the Holidays" may not get nearly as much attention as, "TRX - Suspension Fitness Training Hits Denver" or "Curious about TRX Suspension Training? Call TRX Training Expert XXX for more information." You have to be extremely creative (not cheesy or salesy with your pitch) to get their attention.

About a year ago, I started slowly adding the local media in Denver to my RSS blog feeds, monthly e-newsletters and regularly sending press releases. (I asked permission to add them to my email database). By providing ultra current health and fitness information I have been able to sucessfully keep them on my list and up-to-date on my latest projects. Denver is a very 'fit" town and people are extremely interested in TRX training, thankfully I have received a ton of media exposure and gained 12 new clients in November for my TRX suspension training classes.

I started by offering the media a TRX training session that included a TRX (the professional version). I charged them a nominal fee for the session and a TRX, within a few weeks I was training a writer for the Denver Post Fitness section and the anchor for the CBS local news. Both of them have mentioned the TRX on air and in print and the Denver Post is going to feature my classes in an upcomming issue about "Gyms on the Go".

Not enough qualified trainers send press releases, e-newsletters and RSS blog feeds to the media. Don't be intimidated, the media appreciates any and all story ideas. It helps them do their job. I have included all of the details of how I got my TRX classes going in Denver because I hope that it will spark some creative ideas for you to use in your holiday marketing campaigns. The best marketing is FREE marketing! Good luck and post comments - I would love to know what is working for other coaches.
