I have been asked to work with the local USA swim team to build some strength in our swimmers. I am undecided about at what age I should allow kids to participate in the training. I have a pretty good idea of the physiological & pyschological changes that occur at certain ages, and know the hormonal influences I can expect as well when they hit puberty. I also know that my own kids "played" on the TRX from about age 8 with no problems. Of course - they weren't doing any structed programs. My gut and background tells me they should be at least 12. Do any of you have any experience working with children younger than that on the TRX - and what were your results?

They love it because they can to do mini squats and chest presses and feel secure being able to hold onto something and only go as deep as they feel comfortable. I would love to incorporate some of the suspended feet exercises, but don't know if they quite have the core strength for something that advanced. What would be some core exercises you would recommend for seniors using the TRX?

TRX and the Big Ball

I have serious physical challenges -- long story short, think of me as being at the opposite end of the spectrum from a Navy Seal. But not for long! I find I enjoy the upper body TRX exercises A LOT. But, it's hard for me to stand for 1/2 hour at a stretch (back, knee and ankle pain). I got one of those big exercise balls and was thinking, maybe there's a way to incorporate TRX and ball together while building stability and strength. Are there any videos or training programs or general guidelines you have for this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
