It's 30% Obese, 60% Overweight. But that statistic isn't really all that clear, are muscular men and women considered overweight? If it's done by BMI most body builders would be included in numbers of Obese.

That's awesome about you and your son! Good job!

Yeah, thats one of the downfalls of the BMI formula, is it doesn't account for weight in muscle vs weight in fat. And since muscle is heavier than fat, your overall weight does not reflect accordingly into the BMI.

Re: All body express dvd & poster

SkaterGurl:

I'm sure it is-if I was in better shape, I would have gotten that one (to help my skating). I think the woman that demo's the moves is in excellent shape-I showed one of my girlfriends (who doesn't exercise) and she said "why do you want to look like that?" hmmmm maybe because the "fat" look doesn't work for me anymore?

LOL Yeah, some people just don't understand. That's why it is impossible to get someone to lose weight or just get healthy in general until they come to a place in their life when they are sickened by the way they let themselves go. I have a friend who is only maybe 5' 8" or 5' 9" that has gained a lot of weight, even just in the last two years. I never gave it any thought myself until not long ago, as I was still quite obese myself. I told myself for years I'd change, and didn't put forth the effort until this year. And then I realized how bad we both let ourselves go. He then got in a car accident late last year, and now because of all the weight his spine has to support, his back constantly hurts. I even bought him a back brace to try to help ease the tension in his back, and it hurts him to wear it because it digs into his sides, due to fat hanging off the side of it.

I tried and tried to get him to workout with me for the longest time, even last year. He'd come up w/ some excuse or another. Well as unfortunate as it is, he got a divorce of only 2 - 3 years of marriage, and now he's seeing things how they are, and now realizes he needs to change. So, it's just a matter of letting them come to the fork in the road. We can plant the seed, but the plant won't grow until they're ready unfortunately. Now if I can only get him to cut out the Pepsi!

Re: All body express dvd & poster

Yes yes, I understnad, I think physically fit men look nice too, but it's more from a 'i'd like to look like that' point of view.

I heard a statistic that 60% of Americans are now obese (I used to be one as did my son, but now we are a minority; my husband is still obese). It's really sad. But my son can now run 1.5 miles in under 14 minutes which is FANTASTIC because last year he was 40 lbs heavier and could not even WALK 1.5 miles!!!

Re: All body express dvd & poster

SkaterGurl:

hmmmm maybe because the "fat" look doesn't work for me anymore?

It did in the past?

Non-exercisers just don't seem to understand. And it's not as though you'd like the woman's twin, being in better shape reveals the individual's bone structure.

Re: All body express dvd & poster

I'm sure it is-if I was in better shape, I would have gotten that one (to help my skating).
