    P90X & TRX

I've been doing P90X for the past year and have gotten in amazing shape from it (probably the best shape of my life at 34). Anyway, I'm looking to mix things up a bit now and was wondering if anyone else here has tried using both P90X and the TRX together? It seems like the two might really complement each other. I haven't yet ordered the TRX, but plan to soon.

     Thanks in advance!

    Re: P90X & TRX

I too have completed P90X and it was the best training program I have ever done - and had a lot of fun doing it too. I am now on my second round of P90X and I have been incorporating the TRX into the program.  For this round, I am using the TRX Core Strength DVD in place of AB Ripper.  Instead on the chin up bar, I am using the TRX to do my chin ups (way more difficult).  Instead of chair dips, I am doing the dips on the TRX.   I also use the TRX for the (strip set) bicep curls as I can change the resistance quickly by just moving my feet.

    Re: P90X & TRX

I'm thinking of incorporating TRX w/P90X also. I'm on week 3 and doing better than I expected (I'm almost 59 years old). I'm thinking that the TRX system will help to replace chin-ups and pull-ups which I will never - in this lifetime- be able to do. Is anyone else using this replacement?

    Re: P90X & TRX

Hi all,I ordered P90X last year and done a round of it and found it to be an awesome program and as a matter of fact a few weeks back I decided to give it another go and right now I am on week 2. I have a couple of TRX's and have been using them since last May and they are the most useful fitness tool anyone can have. I dont incorporate the TRX into the P90X workouts but since I do my P90X workouts in the the morning I do use the TRX about 3 evenings a week with either a Crossfit type metcon workout and I also skip the ab ripper dvd a lot of times in favor of the TRX {I will say that ab ripper does'nt have no where near the same effect that a TRX core workout has}.As for replacing the pull ups with the TRX I would say that is a great idea if you cant do pull ups,it will also be a lot tougher than using the bands as a pull up replacement. Also if anyone hasn't tried P90X  and is thinking about ordering it I am a Team Beachbody coach and you can order it or any other Beachbody program through my coaches website at www.teambeachbody.com/coachstan.

Great job Viki!  But don't give up on the chin-ups & pull-ups yet (I can't do them yet either, but someday....)Wink

Check out this post a bout using the TRX to self-spot / assist with pull-ups!! As soon as I can get DH to install my pull-up bar, I'll be trying these!!!

you could also look into the Super Bands that assist in doing pull ups. you can buy them at perform better or other such places. also if you go to youtube and do a "band assisted pull up" search you can see many clips of people doing a pull up using them.

Yeah, that was a good video! Big Smile

With P90X I do as many unassisted pull-ups as I can before I switch to assisted ones using a chair to step on. When I first started P90X I could do about 6 unassisted pull-ups. Now I'm at 21 before I have to switch to the chair. It's a wicked program. Can't wait to start using it with the TRX!

    Re: P90X & TRX

Well I got the TRX Force Kit, (which by the way, arrived the DAY after I ordered it! Wow, that was FAST!!) And so far I'm really impressed. I used it with the Core Synergistics workout in P90X and it made many of the moves immensly harder. "Plank to Chatarunga Run" was crazy hard with your feet suspended in the TRX. Wow!

     I'm sold!
