Hello fellow trx'ers!
I just returned from IDEA's Personal Trainer Conference in DC and felt I needed to share!!! Fitness Anywhere was
one of the sponsors and Fraser was there presenting. I must say, I stalked him
the way most 10 y/o girls stalk the Jonas Brothers!!! :-) Sorry if I scared ya,
Fraser. In all seriousness, if you have the opportunity to hear Fraser
speak/teach/lecture you don't want to pass it up. I took two of his seminars, TRX Metabolic Circuits and Five Vital Elements of
Function. I was also set to take TRX Sports Performance and Flexibilty until
Fraser convinced me to go hear Todd Durkin speak (which I'm very glad I did.
Another great motivator.)
A common theme throughout the convention was on
"training for function" vs functional training. Training movement not muscle. On
using our assessment info to drive the client's exercise program. Letting the
body work the way it was intended to. Finally!! And what better piece of
equipment to use to accomplish this?? ;-)
I was already a huge fan of metabolic training
before the conference, reading anything I could get my hands on. Fraser did a
great job of tying in this type of training w/ the TRX. Teaching everything from
exercise selection (mulitplanar training) to safety to (my personal favorite)
the "training triage". Plus, I got EIGHT new TRX metabolic workouts!!!! That was
worth the conference fee right there, for me. :-) F., I will get you back for
the "single handle hell', though. It's been 2 days and my legs STILL aren't
recovered.
For those of you with a passion
for understanding the body's connectedness, biomechanics, and designing a movement driven program you would have
loved the Five Vital Elements of Function. In a nutshell, this course has
changed the way I structure workouts for myself and my clients. In fact, I am reinventing my client data tracking sheets this week to mimic the changes I've learned from
this course.
Whenever I attend a conference or seminar I am always looking for what I call a "golden nugget". A golden nugget can be anything from a new exercise, to a thought process, idea, quote, etc. Something that revolutionizes the way I either think or train. I consider a conference/seminar extremely successful if I walk away w/ one "golden nugget". I am THRILLED to say that after this conference I came home w/ THREE golden nuggets. Two of which, came from Fraser!!!! The third came from Diane Vives (another "rockstar" in my book, worthy of "stalker-status"!!).
All in all, the speakers and courses were
phemonmenal!! It was well worth the money and time invested. Fraser will be
presenting again at IDEA's Fitness Fusion conference in Rosemont IL Apr. 23-26.
I HIGHLY recommend you make the effort to attend.
Job well done, Fras!! Keep it up. And for the rest
of the TRX community, I look forward to hearing more of your ideas, thoughts, and
workouts.
