Upper Pec Workout on the TRX

Just wondering, what would be the best exercise for developing the upper pectorial muscles in the chest? Would it be the atomic pushup or the suspended incline press?

Are you referring to your deltoid (shoulder region)?

The pectorals specifically, I'd suggest the Deep Chest Press and the Inside Chest Fly.

For the shoulders, the Suspended Incline Press, and the Y Shoulder Raise I would say are the most efficient exercises.

Now, the Atomic Pushup does require the shoulders and pectorals, however they are more targeting your biceps, some triceps, and your abdominal region. And if you put more hips into the crunch movement, you also get some oblique action in there too.

    Hope this helps. Smile

    Thanks,

    Justin

Thanks. The TRX is such a beneficial tool to deeply work the core as well as other muscles. So much so, I can't stand weights anymore. How about you?

    Glad I could help. Smile

Yeah, totally agreed. I don't know how I tolerated free weights for so many years, and wasting so much time on all those machines, just to work 1 muscle at a time! Stick out tongue

It's funny, I have this friend at school (were both studying in Health & Exercise Sciences to get an A.S to become personal trainers), and he asked me, "So you don't use any of the machines they offer? There are so many." And I told him "Nope, waste of my time. Why use 50 different machines, and take 2 hours or more working out with isolation exercises, when I can use 1 thing to work my entire body. And on the plus side, you're using your entire body to work itself, so you're body doesn't try to reject it like free weighs, being they are foreign objects to the body..."

He just grumbled and sighed, LOL But I'll keep working on him, and get him coverted over to suspension training too one of these days! Stick out tongue

I totally agree with you. Getting in a quality workout that allows you to work your entire body at the same time is so beneficial to become overall stronger and prevent injury.

I also have a friend that swears by weights and machines. He says there is nothing like the feel of steal in your hand. I told him that I respect a person more that can control their own bodyweight when working out while using good form.

Just recently, I brought him with me to a calisthenics competition. I brought my TRX with me and hooked up to the pullup bar. I showed him the different exercises that you can perform on it. After showing him, he was blown away. Let's just say he's now willing to reconsider certain workouts. Yes
