New to TRX and have ??'s

    Hello everyone:

I am not sure exactly how to mount the TRX (how high it should be) and exactly how to do all the exercises.  Do you know how I would locate a TRX trainer in my city - Atlanta?  Or can you suggest a few videos that may help?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Welome to the community! Big Smile

A good place to start is the Video Library on the site at: http://www.fitnessanywhere.com/trx-resources/trx-exercise-video.php.

This covers setup and use, as well as how to do many of the exercises on the TRX itself. What package did you get? A lot of them come with 1 or more DVD's, but not the base package. If you do have a DVD, such as the All Body XPress DVD, that is definitely an excellent starting point.

How you mount it depends on the anchor(s) you have. With the Suspension Anchor, you wrap it around an anchor point approximately 6 ft above the ground, either an overhead anchor point like a soccor goal post, on horizontally around an anchor point such as a tree, light pole, etc..

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Justin

I have the X-Mount, which allows you to affix the TRX to a ceiling. I have the TRX hanging from a stud in a 7' 5" ceiling, but you will be fine with 8 or 9 feet ceilings too.

Plan to have the following free space in and around the TRX, no matter the type of anchor you are using. You will be fine with most exercises if you have less space than this; as this would be the optimal spacing if you have the room:

    • Have 3/12 feet of free space on either side of you when facing the TRX. There are some core and leg exercises that incorporate side to side movements.
    • Have 10 feet of free space in front of the anchor point for exercises such as the balance lunge
    • Have a few feet of free space behind the anchor point for exercises like the low row. If you anchor to a wall or door, then you would be fine doing the exercise right to the anchor point
