    ropes gone wild

Just curious if anyone has done a "ropes gone wild" workout. Also was wondering if anyone has ever ordered ropes from them??

    http://www.artofstrength.com/ropes/video.html

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    janine

     janine,

I have done a 15 minute workout and its just brutal.  Like sprinting at altitude.  The web site prices are twice what you would expect to pay for rope.  www.ropesandknots.com will give you the same rope at half the price.  The cardio on this is immense.

    schif,

thanks for the response. that is what i thought. i'm looking to add to my kb, trx, rowing routine. plus, my husband had acl surgery and is still not fully recovered and we're looking for an insane low impact anaerobic workout. this looks like it might do the trick.

    thanks,

    janine

Right. Same movement as the rowing machine, or doing dumbbell rows, except leaning back into it with the TRX.

One more thought that you may consider...  As former firefighter i always split my neighbors wood for free.  Got a beautiful Gransfurd Bruks axe and split wood for several hours a week.  This may not "work" for you.  But go to Lowes and buy sledge hammer and beat on a big old tire.  I think it would accent any work you with the TRX or as alternative to the ropes.  And if you get the ropes get a 1.5" and 2" both.  I had to go back for the bigger rope.

Art of Strength is a great resource.  Anthony seems to be very knowledgeable.  However if you go to your local Rigging store, they can custom make you a rope, whatever length you need.  Have them put a 5 inch shrink tube on both ends and your set, 1/3 the cost. I suggest nylon if your indoors. We went manila and have to vaccum after each intense use.

    Re: ropes gone wild

Finally got my ropes today!! HOLY %&^$#@@!!! Just finished a circuit of ropes, trx for push/pull and some kb stuff (not much b/c I was dying from the ropes!!). OMG!!! Just what I need to remotivate and kick my butt. Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up getting an indoor 30' 1 1/2 inches (which is just a bit too easy. You were right, should've gone w/ 2", but it was too late). But ordered a 50' 1 1/2" outdoor one. THAT kicks my butt!!! Great great workout!!!

Just like the TRX run up, get your form and techinique perfect before going after the 2" rope.  Its a killer addition to trx, kb, and rower.
