    Spot a Fake?

    Locked Reply Contact

Is there a way to spot a fake TRX? I recently bought one from ebay. (Force Bundle- purchased 6 months ago). Came in an offical package with DVD and manual, plus door acnchor and bag. Is there a way to determine if its authentic by looking at it?

I hope you see an answer to this soon. My post "A Little disappointed" touches on this slightly with regards to having bought a TRX on Ebay that the straps slip on. It is definitely a REAL TRX but customer service will not touch it just because I bought it on Ebay. I am working with the seller to get a replacement, and he is also battling with Fitness Anywhere to get the ones that have been reported as slipping replaced.

The best way I could tell is snap a pic of it, and attach it to your reply post, and I could tell you either which way... Wink

I'm curious about this same thing.

If you can tell from a picture, what are you looking for?  Can you post a picture of the real thing to show the differences?  I've got a TRX I just bought on ebay and I'd like to know as well.

Yeah I can snap a shot of my TRX for reference if that will help. I was going to do it a little bit ago, but batteries were dead in the camera apparently.

Aside from that, the straps are made out of a nylon/cotton synthetic blend. Does it have the Fitness Anywhere and TRX branding on it, on stitched on rubber emblems?

I am in the process of trying to post a few pics via URL of my TRX. Of course I have to upload them to photobucket first so I can do this because file posting is limited to a small amount on these boards.

My straps are slipping and customer service says that it is probably a fake which it is very unlikely as you can see from the photos.......If anyone can get customer service to work out a replacement then please let me know!! I did buy it on ebay, but why can the manufacturer not replace a brand new defective set? It has the stitched rubber emlems...patent number on the main strap and nylon/cotton blend HEAVY straps....

Yeah, it reads 'TRX' etc on the straps and looks exactly like the ones I see on the website.  But I'd still like to know how to tell the difference.

But yeah, a picture of a real one would be great.

Hmm... The door anchor and the straps of the TRX itself are questionable. It seems like each emblem didn't say professional on both of them, just one. But I could be wrong. I'm going to have my wife snap some shots of mine, and each component, and see what we can come up with.

I'll post the URL on my Flickr account when I can get them uploaded.

I compared your pics to my TRX and I question the stitching. The stitching on mine seemed more robust and uniform without

loose threads. The cord on the sliders appeared to be of a different texture. I hope that I'm wrong, I hate being the bearer of bad news!

I think mine looks exactly like J.K.'s, so I'll be really curious to see some close-up photos of one I know is 'real' to see what the difference might be.

Ok, here is my TRX Album on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/unleashcreativity/sets/72157622498813089/

Upon looking at the comparison, I can see the eblem on the Suspension Anchor is upside down. I know Fitness Anywhere always puts those the same direction everytime.

Also again, the door anchor just doesn't seem to match up. The end of the door anchor there looks like its all puffy.

And after another look, I was right. The emblems should be different on each strap. On one strap, it says Professional. On the other strap, it says TRX.

Like the other guy said, the stitching looks way different. Also, look at the weave of the straps, just looking at the yellow on the foot cradles, you can tell that is different as well. And, the foam handle covers look shrunk, that isn't normal.

I hate to say it, but I honestly believe you have a fake. Sad

Justin is right, definately a fake, the stiching is very poor.

Another good point my wife pointed out; the buckles. Look at the back of the buckle.

Look at the comparison of the 2 pics: on the left is mine, and the right is yours. Now notice on min how the loop is coming from underneath the strap, where is yours is just dangling there so to speak.

I'm just glad you weren't doing something plyometric when this happened like Suspended Lunge with Power, or Suspended Burpees. That could've lead to some serious bone, ligament, and/or tendon damage around the hips and knees. As if basketball didn't jack you up enough! LOL Stick out tongue

Did FA ever supply the Force Bundle with yellow straps?

I got a Force Bundle direct from FA about 3 months ago, and the straps are khaki.  Also the two rubber labels are "TRX" and "Tactical", *NOT* "Professional".
