Trx Force Program and the Royal Marines

     Hi

This will probably come across as a really stupid question.......

Will the trx force program work to fulfill the test requirements to join the royal marines?

Im Probably being stupid to think that it wouldnt but the requirements needed to pass the PRMC (Potential Royal Marines Course - which is a 3 day physical test for the Lympstone Commando Recruitment Team to check you out physically and mentally to see if you have what it takes to become a Commando and start the 32 week basic training) are as follows and are a minimum requiremant -

VO2 Max Test (Bleep Test) to level 13

60 push ups (hands shoulder width apart keeping your elbows tucked in) in 2min

80 sit ups in 2 min

    6 over hand pull ups

    3 mile run in 21min

Plus loads more running, swimming, push ups, sit ups and pull ups thrown in wherever the requitment team decide they want to throw them in.

    All comments are welcome

    Thanx in advance

Re: Trx Force Program and the Royal Marines

I can comment on the pushups......When you do pushups keeping your elbows in, they are easier.......60 in 2 minutes would be easy.

80 Situps in 2 minutes.....definitely can be done, and I am sure that the TRX can improve this workout for anyone that uses it enough.

6 pull ups....EASY!!! I could only do 2-3 and then started doing them regularly and got up to 12-15 in probably 30 seconds....ALL the way up and down.

The 3 mile run would be a challenge becaus you are looking at probably RUNNING a pretty good speed through out the whole 3 miles........start on a treadmill to find the right pace. set it for 21 minutes and maybe 7 mph and then adjust each time you run from there. I suggest you get the 3 miles down to 18 to 18:30 to allow for any changes in conditions that you might encounter in their "tryout" type recruitment. You never know if it will be cold, hot, windy, or raining.....can affect you differentlt when running.

I have yet to use the TRX, but next week I should be rolling into my routines after  my surgery on my leg. All my exercises will be with one leg, should be fun. I would say they TRX could definitely help you in ALL of the areas. Check youtube and these forums for exercises that people have come up with....You can do anything with this thing!!

    Just my 2 cents.

I haven't gotten to really start any training yet. My surgery was yesterday, and my TRX also came in yesterday, but I am still in a good amount of pain from surgery so I guess I may have to put off try anything for at least the first few days of recovery.
