    TRX at Pool Side

I taught a class at the Aviation Survival School last week.  We never talked about setting up the TRX at pool side.  The answer is yes it can be done.  You just need to get creative.  Use any ladders, side pool tie offs, diving platform, etc..  I had 7 TRXs hanging around for a group of 14 sailors.  Worked out great.  Barefoot optional.  I beleive they will be placing an order soon.  I have sent Fitness anywhere photos and more to come on military training.  Thanks Paul

    Paul,

You're right.  It can definitely be used pool side.  I write programs for many swimmers, and once the coaching staffs understand how portable the TRX is, they love it.  Most of the teams I work with have pull-up bars on deck, so that is the obvious first choice.  Another great option you stated is to anchor them to the ladders for the diving boards.  If there are 3 meter boards on deck, or platforms, then this is a great option as well.  Additionally, many pools have spectator balconies one level up.  So, anchor the TRX's to the railing and use them on deck.  I've done this too.  The main issue seems to be trying to keep a dry space.  It's easy to use them before a workout, but that's assuming the deck is dry to begin with.  I really see the TRX as a useful cross-training tool to use within a swimming workout.  So, since I want to circuit in & out of the pool, I'll take any suggestions to reduce slipping possibilities.  The Shammies that divers use take water off quickly, so that is my idea.  Let me know if you can think of something better!

Many pools that are multi-functional have foam mats that kids use as rafts. These work great as a drier and protection buffer from the hard tile pool deck surface.

Even a collection of yoga mats can help create a slip resistant environment.
